"System for custom imprinting a variety of articles with images obtained
from a variety of different sources", application filed April 22, 1994,
or in persuading Eastman Kodak to disclaim it.

- GIF87a specification, June 15, 1987, CompuServe Inc. (Image Left
Position and Image Top Position fields within the "Image Descriptor" table).
- TGA specification (Xoffset and Yoffset header fields) The TGA format was
developed in the 1984-1987 time frame.
- TIFF specification (Xposition and Yposition tags). TIFF dates from 1988
or earlier.
- Texture mapping (documentation needed for hardware or software that
did texture mapping prior to the patent)
- ID card maker (documentation needed for one predating the patent)

This matter is of interest to PNG and MNG Development because PNG supports
an "oFFs" (offset) chunk that can be used to prescribe a predefined location
for the image to be printed or displayed. MNG supports location of images
within the frame via positioning chunks including DEFI and MOVE.
